Poems and such.

I have competed as a member of the 2013 Boston Poetry Slam/Cantab national team & the 2014 Lizard Lounge national team.

Sometimes I say, "I am not actually writing poetry, it is just something I am doing." I am being flip but I still think:

Poetry can be - just something you are doing. And I plan to post it here, when people are doing it.

Aspiration gets stuck in some people. It’s difficult to think yes. Or up. When all you feel is fight or run.

This is something I know: damaged women? We don’t think we deserve kindness. In fact, when kindness happens to us, we go a little berserk. It’s threatening. Deeply. Because if I have to admit how profoundly I need kindness? I have to admit that I hid the me who deserves it down in a sadness well. Seriously. Like abandoning a child at the bottom of a well because it is better than the life she is facing.
Lidia Yuknavitch, Chronology of Water
Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.
BKS Iyengar
Last night was that dream
again: me and Jesus
pulling nails out of our feet
at the lip of the Mississippi
Delta. Somewhere, Coretta
is calling for Martin
to come down from a sycamore.
He’s just a boy, here, but
he weeps and the sky
is ripped at the belly.

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you, the less you know.

As life gets longer, awful feels softer.

Sometimes we want what we want even if we know it’s going to kill us.

This is a dangerous thing to do. People pick up on one little thing you say and never let go.
